Bequest
This is the most familiar type of planned gift. Leaving assets to IAJF reduces the size of your taxable estate. One can choose to leave a specified sum of money (in the form of CDs, stocks, life insurance, and jewelry) or particular piece of property or asset.
Other options might include leaving IAJF a percentage of your estate or a percentage of the residue after making provisions for family and friends.
Sample Bequest Language:
For a Specific Amount:
"I hereby give and bequeath unto The Iranian American Jewish Federation of New York, 770 Middle Neck Rd. Suite 5P; Great Neck, New York 11024 the sum of $___________ to be used for its charitable purposes."
For a Percentage:
"After the payment of such debts and expenses as are set forth above, I hereby give, devise, and bequeath the residue as follows: ______ percent (%) to The Iranian American Jewish Federation of New York, 770 Middle Neck Rd. Suite 5P; Great Neck, New York 11024."
For property:
"I hereby give and bequeath unto The Iranian American Jewish Federation of New York, 770 Middle Neck Rd. Suite 5P; Great Neck, New York 11024 __________________________ (insert name of property) to be used for its charitable purposes."
