IAJF Co-Sponsors 30 Years After Delegation at the 2013 AIPAC Policy Conference
On March 3rd through 5th 2013, 30 Years After New York, with the generosity of the IAJF, sponsored approximately twenty Jewish Iranian-American students and young professionals to attend the annual American Israeli Political Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference in Washington D.C.

According to AIPAC, the Policy Conference brings together pro-Israel activists looking to "influence policy, strengthen the bond between the United States and Israel, and ensure that Israel remains strong, vibrant and free." As described by The New York Times, AIPAC has emerged as "the most important organization affecting America's relationship with Israel," with over 100,000 pro-Israel members. Given the opportunity provided by 30 Years After and the IAJF, a new generation of pro-Israel activists were able to learn more about the importance of the American-Israeli relationship and become well-versed on the current national and global political landscape.

With over 10,000 activists in attendance, 30 Years After's delegation interacted with an array of people, from scholars, to politicians, to Israeli generals, to fellow students. The delegates also got to experience numerous educational panels and listen to live speeches by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and leaders from Congress.

This investment by IAJF will leave long-lasting impacts on the Jewish Iranian American community as a whole.

Rooftop Drinks & Cyrus Cylinder Exhibit Tour
On Sunday, August 4th, the Young Leadership Division of the IAJF met for drinks on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. After taking in the outstanding panoramic view and enjoying cocktails with friends, guests joined a VIP tour of the Cyrus Cylinder exhibition proudly co-sponsored by the Iranian American Jewish Federation of New York.

The Cyrus Cylinder is one of the most famous surviving icons from the ancient world. Excavated at the ruins of Babylon in 1879, the cylinder was inscribed in Babylonian cuneiform on the orders of the Persian King, Cyrus the Great after he captured Babylon in 1539. The Cylinder marks the establishment of Persian rule and records how Cyrus restored shrines and allowed deported peoples to return to their homelands. Although not expressly mentioned at the time this icon was created the exiled Israelites in Babylon returned to Jerusalem to build the Second Temple, which is recorded in the Bible. The Cylinder, and other related works on loan from the British Museum, reflect the innovations initiated by Persian rule in the ancient near east.
