IAJF Local Emergency Assistance Program
The IAJF Local Emergency Assistance Program was established in 2008 to provide assistance to those in need in the local community. IAJF is particularly grateful for the dedication of Mr. Yosef Shahery z”l, who tirelessly ran the program from its inception. The program has provided emergency relief for countless people throughout the years.
The scope of the Local Emergency Assistance Program was expanded in 2019 with the creation of the Tikvah Program, a collaborative project with UJA-Federation of New York and Commonpoint Queens. The Tikvah Program makes available social workers who can connect those in need to a vast array of resources, including:
-
Government benefits and food stamps
-
Financial counseling
-
Legal consultations
-
Food pantry services
-
Senior services
-
Employment assistance
-
Childcare referrals
-
Supportive counseling
These services are completely free and confidential. The program takes a respectful, comprehensive, and sustainable approach to address the needs of individuals or families during vulnerable times. For more information, please contact Elisha Zar: 718-225-6750 ext. 242
